An offbeat, irreverent musical documentary that tells the story of a group of Jewish songwriters, including Irving Berlin, Mel Tormé, Jay Livingston, Ray Evans, Gloria Shayne Baker and Johnny Marks, who wrote the soundtrack to Christianity’s most musical holiday. It’s an amazing tale of immigrant outsiders who became irreplaceable players in pop culture’s mainstream – a generation of songwriters who found in Christmas the perfect holiday in which to imagine a better world, and for at least one day a year, make us believe.

'Nauka Caritramu' pays tribute to three women artists of the Carnatic music tradition of South India: M. S. Subbulakshmi, D. K. Pattammal and Tanjore Brinda. Each in their own individual style has carried forward the rich heritage of Carnatic music in the spirit of the Bhakti devotion. Their purity, expression and dedication is shared by the maestros as they relive their memories and bring alive the image of the Bhakta, poet composer Tyagaraja, who, through his musical wisdom seeks liberation from all sansara or worldly life, and surrenders to this Divine medium. The film explores their music, their life experiences and their devotion towards their music.

Set to Fantasia-like music, the anime pans over a town during their Christmas celebrations while Santa flies across the sky.

Illuminating the challenges often unseen beyond the toys, trees and tinsel, people in a small Irish village reflect on their difficult relationships with Christmas. "So This Is Christmas" is a heartwarming and charming portrait from award-winning director Ken Wardrop, which perfectly exemplies his innate ability to tell the stories of ordinary people, depicting their thoughts, feelings and experiences in an empathetic way. Beautifully rendered in 35mm, the film is authentic and compassionate, and a valuable addition to the Irish documentary canon.
